Food for Friends (November 2008 to December 2009)

Under Food for Friends scheme sponsored by NWS Holdings Charities Foundation and organized by the Gambling Counselling Centre of The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, 150 families who have financial difficulties due to gambling problems are provided with food and specialized counselling from November 2008 to December 2009.

Volunteers help raise fund (October to December)

The volunteers of NWS Volunteer Alliance took part in several fund raising activities, including selling flags for Hong Kong Rehabilitation Power, The Hong Kong Society for the Blind, Life Education Activity Programme, New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association and Green Power respectively, as well as participating in UNICEF Charity Run 2008, Hug Families Charity Walk 2008, CyberRun for Rehab 2008, 2008 Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital Charity Walkathon, knot-making class of "Hong Kong Citizen. Hong Kong Heart" Volunteer Ambassador Programme, Ronald McDonald House Open Day 2008 and "Pass-it-on 2008" Charity Sales Champaign organized by Hong Kong Red Cross.

Volunteers help raise fund in flag days (July - Sept 2008)

The volunteers of NWS Volunteer Alliance took part in several flag days to raise funds for Fu Hong Society, Hong Kong Society for the Aged, UNICEF, Cheung Chau Island Women's Association Limited, The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Group s, The Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong, Senior Citizen Home Safety Association, Society for the Welfare of the Autistic Persons, Society for the Promotion of Hospice Care, as well as participating in the Walkathon organized by Hong Kong Christian Service.

UPML in aid of used book recycling sale campaign (July and August 2008)

Nineteen properties managed by UPML lent their support to World Vision Hong Kong's "Used Book Recycling and Charity Sale Campaign" between July and August 2008. Over 20,000 books were collected in support of the Sichuan School Rehabilitation Projects launched by World Vision Hong Kong after the earthquake in Sichuan.

Ronald McDonald House Charities - Charity Raffle Ticket Sale 2008
(12 July and 2 August 2008)

NWS Volunteer Alliance members participated in the Charity Raffle Ticket Sale 2008 organized by Ronald McDonald House Charities on 12 July 2008 and 2 August 2008. Over 20 volunteers sold the raffle tickets at the McDonald restaurant at Cityplaza and UA Langham Place to raise funds to help sick children and their families.

Rice Sale for Oxfam (24 May 2008)

Members of NWS Volunteer Alliance participated in the Oxfam rice selling on 24 May 2008. The funds raised were dedicated to Oxfam's earthquake relief and rehabilitation projects in Sichuan.

Volunteers help raise fund (April - June 2008)

The volunteers of NWS Volunteer Alliance took part in several fund raising activities, including selling flags for Breakthrough, End Child Sexual Abuse Foundation, the Hong Kong Joint Council of Parents of the Mentally Handicapped, Chai Wan Baptist Church Social Service respectively, as well as participating in the Walkathon organized by Hong Kong Christian Service.

NWS Charities Foundation hosts charity event to celebrate Mother's Day
(26 April 2008)

Joining hands with the Troels H. Povlsen Care Apparel Centre of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University ("PolyU"), NWS Charities Foundation sponsored the Mother's Day Clothes-Making Event aimed at teaching 25 mentally-disabled members from the Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council to make outfits for their mothers as Mother's Day gifts.

The mentally-disabled made outfits for their mothers with the guidance and assistance from the PolyU professors and NWS Volunteer Alliance members on 26 April 2008. The Mother's Day Clothes-Making Event was held at New World Centre on 11 May 2008 (Mother's Day) where the mothers of the mentally-disabled members paraded in their "special outfits" on stage. Mr Tsang Yam Pui, Executive Director and Chairman of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of the Group, presented prizes with other officiating guests for the event.

Volunteers help raise funds (January - March 2008)

The volunteers of NWS Volunteer Alliance participated in several fund raising events, including flag selling for Hong Kong Association for Cleft Lip and Palate, Hans Andersen Club, Amity Mutual V Support Society and Hong Kong Lutheran Social Service, as well as the Red Packets Donation Campaign organized by Hong Kong Christian Service.

Star knots to build harmonious community (January 2008)

At a community campaign organized by the Social Welfare Department, our participating volunteers made 300 star knots and distributed them out during visits to beneficiaries on NWS Caring Day 2008, which helped build a caring community.
